Peonies Peonies Peonies

Peonies are my favorite flower as well as one of the most popular wedding flower now a days!

Peonies were used in ancient Chinese Culture to cure menstrual cramps and Asthma (Random) and are native to Southern parts of Europe, Asia, and North America. Now in 2011 peonies are the number one "loved" flowers in the wedding industry. Their clean yet unique shape allows for them to fit into any bouquet as well as centerpiece or accent floral.

Here are some pictured I found that I fell in love with:

Theming

Theming doesn't have to be complicated!

When choosing a theme for your wedding you don't have to think of a certain decade or festival that has happened in the past. Choose a color pallet and make it simple! Having a theme can be easy if you remember that colors are themes.

Consider having one strong color and another neutral accent color. This then enables you to have all different types of decor from feathers to candles without having to tie them all together, the color does that for you.

Here is a Tiffany Blue with accenting Gold wedding reception theme:

Keeping it simple makes a wedding elegant and makes your guests feel like they walked into a fairytale.

Prohibition Era Elegance

One of the biggest wedding trends of 2011..

With the new television shows like HBO's "Boardwalk Empire" and AMC's "Mad Men", Brides are running wild with their twenties themed wedding! This era was known as the "Roaring Twenties" when woman rebelled and scandal arose.

Creating your blast from the past:

Bar:
In this era only the "elite" could have alcohol because it was hard to find and very expensive. You could play this idea up by having a signature drink with one of the most sought out liquors of the twenties, gin. An "Appletini" is a popular gin cocktail which is liked by all.

Ingredients:
2 oz. Gin
1 oz. of Green Apple Schnapps

Music & Photography:
Jazz is one of the best things to come out of the "roaring twenties" so to set the mood just right hire a jazz band for your cocktail hour. This is sure to please your guests and get them into the twenties mood.

Photography is always an important part of your wedding day and having this inspiring theme will allow your photographer to truly show their creativity. Black and white pictures are a classic way to have a true  twenties wedding.

Guest Attire:
Involve your guests in your wedding theme by requesting on the invitations that they dress "twenties inspired". As well as bringing the whole wedding concept together this will also build anticipation for your participants while they brainstorm and shop for their wedding day outfits.
